lace those kicks
Did you know that a 12 eyelet shoe has almost 12 trillion different ways to lace them? Nope, neither did I but you can find 31 different ways at Ian's shoelace site. Dude, takes his lacing serious.
everything small is good
I have always fantasized about travelling via motorhome. It's seems like fun to have your house go with you whereever you are. Now, Knaus from Germany has made it even cooler. Introducing the C-liner a compact, contemporary motorhome. At 6 meters long it sleeps two, has a bathroom better than my apartment and gets approx. 20/mpg. That's better than most S.U.V.s! While not completely enviromentally sound it's still better a way to vacation than most cars on the road.

Ultimate Bust
Jeean-Michel Cousteau is now my new hero.
I don’t pretend to have a secret solution. But the method of confrontation has to be left behind. That was the ’60s and ’70s. We can’t do that anymore. That was okay then, but not now. In terms of dealing with decision-makers — whether industry or government — we have to establish dialogue; we have to behave as human beings talking to other human beings. Those people have a family, they have children, they have obligations, they are the same as you and I. If you approach them in a non-confrontational way, chances are that you will have some success. And if your arguments are convincing enough, it’s going to work. You might not get exactly what you want, but at least you will be heard.
Please read what he accomplished.

Oui, beep, beep, oui
It's about damn time, French start-up Aldebaran Robotics has possibly created autonomous, affordable and easily programmable humanoid robots. Their first robot a household service robot in production early 2007. Ok it may not be a flying car, but if I have my robot butler [or maybe a robot maid] by next fall I will be so stoked!

I present to you, the Zooop
The Zooop, created by the fashion house Maison de Courrèges. The husband and wife team of André and Coqueline Courrèges who both were mentored and apprenticed with Cristóbal Balenciaga [fucking Balenciaga!!! Seriously!!!] are no strangers to the world of automotive engineering. This is their third developed car and have been dabbling the electric cars since the 60's when they introduced the world to the miniskirt.
This hopefully will spawn some great actual cars and not just concept cars. I love when design gets thrown for a loop by coming from unexpected places. I don't mean forced, needless wacky pairings to try to come up with something novel but passioned inspiration coming from unlikely sources like this.

time well spent
2 out of 3
Apparently, in the 1980s Bandai was able to confine god and jesus in a toy robot, now if they could only grab that pesky holy ghost.

To those who know...
this is funny.
clip to house
So about this time last year Kyle MacDonald had a red paperclip, now he has a house. Over the past year and 14 trades he traded items until he got a house. Personally I think he cheated a little bit since he did all of the trades publically. It would have been more interesting if he did the trades with the internet blabbing about it all the time and being on morning talk shows. Especially at the end when he traded a night hanging out with Alice Cooper for a Kiss snow globe and then for a movie role. Without the aid of the limelight those would have been some kickass negotiations.
Farmer's homemade robots
Farmer Wu Yulu has made over 25 robots from wire, metal, screws and nails he has found in trash sites. Some of them server tea, light cigarettes and pull rickshaws. Unfortunately, a fire that destroyed his home has forced him to sell his robots to pay off his debt. But, being the resourceful man that he is he will build more.

WeeHouses
More prefab-ulousness, this one from Alchemy Architects. The WeeHouse, most of their projects seem to involve vacation or far-out open space places. I would really like to see some hardcore urban prefabs up in this piece.
More, More than meets the eye
Meet a black person
Another great short from improv everywhere. This one has one of the team providing a much needed service to Aspen, CO. Whose population is 99.4% white. The last guy in this video is the best.
